Queen Charlotte Strait heading toward Sullivan Bay on North Broughton Island

Queen Charlotte Strait heading toward Sullivan Bay on North Broughton Island

This turned into something of a challenging day.

We dropped our 13 crabs in a trap in a cove off Calvert Island only to return two hours later with all but one missing. Someone had come by, lifted the trap and stolen our crab.

Then, only 10 or so miles outside of Sullivan Bay, the port outdrive started making all the wrong noises; Gary stops, lifts the drive and turning the prop by hand is certain the gearbox is damaged. We could head for Port Hardy or Port McNeil to attempt repairs, but Kerri's coming in the next day with guests the day after, so Gary decides to head for Sullivan Bay. We cruise the rest of the way at 6 knots on one engine into a beautiful overnight anchorage about 4 miles away from Sullivan bay.
